HISTORY OF THE GRANGE ANGUS
The Grange Angus stud was started in Western Australia in 1997, following the dispersal of the famous Glen Bold herd from South Australia. The Grange was started by, the high profile Australian building and construction identity, the late John Roberts, who founded the Multiplex building empire.
In February 2006, the Grange achieved an Australian record price, when they sold a heifer (WFOA180), at their Hamilton sale for $38,000 to the Alpine and Vermont Angus studs. ( BR New Design 7127 x Davis YR Blackbird 558H). Blackbird 558H was valued at US$520,000 when she sold, a US record at the time.
Mr. Roberts died unexpectedly in June 2006 after makking an enormous investment and contribution to the Australian Angus beef cattle industry, including the importation of many elite matings..
The Grange Angus stud was purchased from the Mr Roberts’ estate by the current owners, in August 2006. The herd, 5 B-double loads, were trucked from the Swan Valley and the west coast of WA, to Albury NSW, in September 06. This 3,800km haul, was an Australian first. No animals were lost, or even went down in the truck, a testament to our local transport operators, Simpsons Livestock Transport.
The Grange Herd will finally be dispersed, with an On- Property Sale planned at "Kensal Green" on Thursday and Friday, 29th and 30th October 2009.
